We never let a little rain slow us down here at SDCS. After a really productive session inside this morning with Greg Hardy we prepared for our screening session this afternoon without a hitch even though we were inside.
Each week at camp we like to take a look at the U12 and older campers so that we can evaluate them and help guide their conditioning programs as they return home and prepare for ski season. We changed up our protocol some from years past as the Eastern Region and academies have started to look at different aspects of young athletes as a determinate of their abilities.
This week we had the campers run through a series of screenings: Box Jumps, Sit and Reach, 5x2 leg jump, and plank (for time). We also added a video of each camper performing a squat and squat jump so that they can see what their movement pattern looks like and compare it to that of Danny's. As you will all see when you receive the testing data, we feel that there is a lot of valuable information that we get out of this session that can help progress your camper in their conditioning.
The younger groups were lucky to hang out with Danny and Chrissy this afternoon, they were all wiped out from a pretty intense workout this morning so they watched a movie and took a trip down to Lackey's. We pay a lot of attention to the volume of activity each age group does during the week, and in hopes of keeping exercise and conditioning fun we tailor the sessions for ample rest and a strong balance of fun and education.
The kids are getting showered up and ready for the DJ to come and play some music and enjoy the last night here at camp.
Thanks so much!!!
